We noted the prices on the last or penultimate day of the month between January and June, tabulated them, and then calculated the inflation rate. We also excluded promotional prices from the t-online inflation rate, as they could have greatly skewed the result.

It is striking that almost all goods in the basket have increased in price – with a few exceptions, which cost the same, or even less. For example, chocolate, salad or shampoo.

The same development can be observed with bread. A kilogram of crusty bread rose in price from 1.29 euros to 1.59 euros. It was ten cents cheaper in May.

Wine also shows a clear rise in prices over time. At the beginning of the year, a bottle of Dornfelder cost 3.99 euros, and at the end of March it was already 4.29 euros. The price initially remained stable until it jumped to €4.99 at the end of June.
